Braves Outright David Fletcher to Gwinnett Stripers

Veteran Infielder Departs Atlanta Organization

The Atlanta Braves have designated infielder David Fletcher for assignment and outrighted him to the Gwinnett Stripers, the team's Triple-A affiliate, the team announced Thursday. Fletcher, a former All-Star with the Los Angeles Angels, was acquired by the Braves from the Angels last week in exchange for cash considerations.

Fletcher, 29, has been a versatile player throughout his career, playing all four infield positions and even spending some time in the outfield. He is a career .260 hitter with a .319 on-base percentage and a .375 slugging percentage.

Fletcher is expected to provide depth to the Stripers' infield and could potentially be recalled to the Braves if injuries or underperformance necessitate his presence. The Braves currently have Orlando Arcia and Vaughn Grissom as their starting shortstops, but both players have struggled at times this season.
