Model Railroad and Traffic History by Hagen von Ortloff

The theme that the Stuttgart team Lokomotive Oxaplatz with Hagen von Ortloff, Lutz Mäder, and Rolf Brändle will exhibit at the trade show is "The development of model railroads and traffic history in Baden-Württemberg from the beginnings to the present day."

As the H0 scale began its rapid triumph in Germany at almost the same time, BUB and the S gauge were bound to fail. As a result, production of S-gauge trains ceased in 1959. Brawa, based in Remshalden near Stuttgart, is the only long-established Württemberg manufacturer still in business today.

Since the beginning of the 1960s, there has been hardly any other area in Germany where so many model railroad clubs were founded and have been continuously active for decades as in the Stuttgart metropolitan area. These clubs are not only concerned with the operation of model railroads but also with the preservation of the original. The Stuttgart Transport Museum, which has been showing a representative collection of model railroads and traffic history since 1964, is unique in Germany.
